Sicily with MeZack went beautifully. Other than staying in a scary mafia-infested neighbourhood (also full of fragrant fish markets), and the fact that we could not find any bars, we had a blast.

I ate squid ink (aka black) past every night, while MeZack recovered from his bout of food poisoning by drinking gallons of wine (the Sicilians weren't even shocked when we asked for plastic to-go cups).

One of the things I read about was the famous (or infamous) Fountain of Shame. I had to find it at all costs and dragged poor MeZack all over Palermo looking for it. When we (finally) did find it, we were ashamed... rightfully so, I guess.

Tuesday night we went to the beach and ate an amazing (fishy) meal with the cool breeze of the sea against our skin.

If you want a MUCH more colorful description of our trip, read MeZack's blog. Trust me, it's worth it.

To Visit Mafia-Land

I am about to take off for a whirlwind tour of Palermo with MeZack. I was given a free Eurorail pass so I decided to take an eleven (ELEVEN) hour train ride for about 40 hours in Palermo. But it will be worth it to be out of the house for a couple of days and to hang out with MeZack. Such fun, and we shall drink such good wine (if he gets over his food poisoining).

Mafia, here we come!

Blooper at the Modern

Today, I toured the National Gallery of Modern Art (here in Rome) with my course, and as many people can tell you (especially Red), I am not a huge fan of modern art. After four hours of staring at shit (like a clothes hanger or an upside-down urinal or... let's just stop here) I went to sit down on a couch (there were couches in most rooms) when my whole class screamed in horror and two guards came running towards me...

... I sat on art...

Heater and Alcohol = No Good

Please learn from my mistakes: don't come home on a Friday night (after a couple of bottles of wine for dinner) and try to fix your mother's water heater cause all you'll get out of if is your mother screaming at you Saturday morning at 5:40am because you flooded the house and almost made the water heater bust (thanks goodness for safety valves).

Lusting after a friend's ex-bf is a big no no in my book. HUGE no no.

... and yet... Aussie is so hot. What to do?

... what to do... ?

Alcohol at the Gym

You know it's going to be a fun day when you start off drinking champagne at 10.30 in the morning... at your gym... with your trainer.

St. Patty's Day

I cannot even describe how much fun St. Patty's Day was at my local Irish pub. I got there early, at 8.30pm, and the pub was already packed full of drunk people. I, of course, decided that I should start drinking as well. The owner of the pub gave me a silly hat (huge and green) that EVERYONE was envious of all night long.

Other than drinking countless pints of beer, and having to pee every 5 minutes, I started a brawl... all in all a good night!

Compliments are fun/ny

Today I was driving in my mom's litte car (in the rain) when a dude on a scooter pulled up next me and asked me to lower my window (keep in mind we were still moving, I did not stop). I ask him what's up...

Guy, "You're cute. Can I have your number?"
Me, horrified, "NO!!!"
Guy, "Come one!"
Me, still horrified, "Absolutely not!"
Guy, "Why not?"
Me, "Cause I fucking SAID so!" and I rolled my window back up

... but we all know that if he had been hot, I would have not only given him my number, but allowed him to jump in the car with me...

Work is Good

I was standing in line at S.Peter's basilica the other day whilst giving my speach about the history of the Church and the Vatican from the times of Caesar to the election of Pope Benedict XVI. After my 20 min of talking were over, a man standing in front of us (not part of my family), turned around and said,

'I just want you to know that I am a medievalist at the Univ. of ___ and I would like to tell you that you are amazing. I teach this stuff and yet you just explained it better than I ever could.'

Turns out he is on a 2 year sabbatical and is translation ancient roman manuscripts from all over europe (that were copied in medieval times) into english and publishing a book about them. He just kinda joined my tour, and was just reading Latin and Greek all over the place. It could have been very bad, but it turned out to be very good, and I learned a lot from him! Yay!

Update from Rome

The following has happened to me in the past few weeks:

1. I hooked up with my ex in my bathtub. (I called him and told him that I was having a party in my bathtub and that he was the only one invited, and that he should show up at 8.20pm shart. he was there.)

2. Trainer is still calling/texting. I have changed my workout times to try to avoid him a little

3. A driver whom I work with asked me out

4. The guy that pumps my gas asked me out

5. Need I go on?
